Blue Hour Above the Rooftops of Linz

exhibition period:

June 3 - September 26 2010

Daily from 7 p.m.

Ausstellungsort:

OK roof, entrance at OK Offenes Kulturhaus

Triennale Lounge for relaxing > Wooden bridge with view of the city > Art in the parking garage > Summer cinema under the stars.

Every day, as the clock strikes the blue hour, there will be a TRIENNALE event with changing programmes on the roof of the OK from 7 p.m.: a lounge designed by Michael Kienzer invites visitors to hang out and wooden walkways on an adjacent flat roof offer unusual vistas of Linz.

The top floor of a multi-storey car park with a total floor area of 1,200 m2 will be used by TRIENNALE artists for site-specific works on the theme of the drive-in cinema: a »non-place« in public space, at the heart of the city, is turned into an art venue. The artworks, some of which have been made expressly to be displayed here, change in a 10-day rhythm. This programme adds a specially dynamic note to the TRIENNALE and demonstrates the gambits artists are capable of outside the accustomed gallery ambience. The exhibition resembles a cat that is content to quietly and collectedly sunbathe all day in the summer heat until it gives an energetic flourish of its tail in the evening once the blue hour arrives. Film and video, two crucial media in today’s art scene, are concentrated in two places: the Moviemento’s summer cinema moves to the roof of the car park and plays out in 2010 under the starry night sky. Before every performance a TRIENNALE film will be screened as part of a programme curated by Christine Dollhofer (Crossing Europe).
